Old Forge School District Celebrates 100th Anniversary The Old Forge School District is celebrating 100 years of Excellence in Education with the class of 2010 having the distinction of being the 100th graduating class of the District. Approximately 20 district and community volunteers have been meeting monthly to plan activities to celebrate this occasion. We have received overwhelming responses to articles which have been placed in the newspaper. Some of the activities which have been planned are alumni ribbons and alumni signature books available at home football and basketball games; the preparation of a time capsule; district facts broadcasted over the morning shows; district history researched and in the process of being published by our high school gifted students; anniversary pole banners and building banners; an anniversary ornament sale which was a great success—we still have a limited number available for sale; current and retired staff and board of education luncheon in the Spring of 2010; alumni visits to classrooms; compiling of Miss Devilette, valedictorian and class officer listings; a spring open house with student demonstrations and displays; Memorial Day graduate procession and event; sports record book research by a committee member and committee of students; graduate family tree project; district brochure; and alumni association reactivation. In celebration of the district’s 100th anniversary, the Old Forge School District is collecting family trees from current and former students. Blank templates will be distributed to all students. Templates are also available in the main office of the High School or by clicking the link below. When completing the tree, please list the name (use maiden names when possible) and year of graduation (or years of attendance). If you are the first in your family to attend Old Forge we encourage you to start your own tree! If you have your own family tree already completed - even if it is more extensive then the one we provide – we encourage you to prepare a copy for the district. All entries will be cataloged in a binder and will be on display during the upcoming centennial events. We hope to gather family trees from as many students and former students as possible. This project is one of many ways to preserve the rich history that our district is so very proud of. Please help us by completing your tree and encouraging your friends and neighbors to do so also. For additional information on the 100th anniversary please call the Superintendent’s office at 457-6721 extension 130. Thank you,
